In the old days, a windmill was used to do things like pump up water from a well by some mechanical action. Nowadays, when most everything is powered by electricity, we use the wind to provide us with free electric power.
OK, once a wind turbine is set up - then the rest is free! The thing that slows down the use of environmentally-friendly energy systems is the relatively high initial cost. But think of it like buying a house. Which would you rather do, own a house outright or rent it?
Yes, I thought so - you’d rather own it! When you buy a house, the initial cost is very high indeed; but then the costs of owning it are very low.
On the other hand, if you would rent the same property, all you pay is the rent… month after month after month…
Same with things like wind turbines… or solar panels…
They cost a bit of money to install, but then you OWN them… and they work for you and produce electrical power for virtually nothing.
Unlike the electricity you get from your utility company: you keep paying for it, month after month after month…
Look at it this way when thinking about investing money in a wind turbine: you become more self-reliant… less dependent on the utility power grid… plus you become friendlier with the environment.
